Don’t Touch

A 2D interactive puzzle game that needs the patience to win.

Shown at the end of the year exhibition at UC Davis.

The game requires players to navigate to the end without touching any walls or enemies. This requires multiple attempts and a high level of patience to successfully complete.

A puzzle game that has an AI component designed to motivate players and enhance their experience.

MY ROLE

Game Designer/Level Designer/Artist/Programmer

  • Designed all gameplay, levels, visuals, and narrative and made prototypes by Unity 3D.

    Programmed the game logic and mechanics using C#.

Level Design

Level 1Gives out the instruction as a normal game.

Provides the instruction as a normal game - Don’t touch anything in cyan.

Level 2Continues reminding the player of the instruction. The player may find it playful because the instruction follows the path.

Continuously reminds the player of the instructions. Adds a playful element because the instruction follows the path.

Level 3

The AI suggests the player view a sentence that offers a hint about a credit cookie reward after completing level 10.

Level 4The person starts teasing the player. He puts a white color barricade which blocks the road but actually is passable. The player may find the white words have personalty.

The AI begins to tease the player by placing a white colored barricade that appears to block the road but is actually passable. The player may find the white words to have a unique personality.

Level 5

This level is a maze and the AI misleads the player to go the wrong way. The player may find a cute emoticon of the AI in a dead-end, adding an element of surprise and humor to the game.

Level 6Start from level 6, each level after has some moving armies. He starts to remind the player not to touch the cyan enemy and indicates the player to go to the bottom-right corner.

From level 6 onward, each subsequent level features moving enemy units. The AI continuously reminds the player to avoid the cyan enemy and guides them toward the bottom-right corner.

Level 7There is a big rotation bar at the center. He asks a riddle about rotation and shows the answer after the player goes through it.

The player must navigate through a rotating bar. The AI presents a riddle related to rotation and reveals the answer once the player completed the level.

Level 8

Level 8 is a harder level. The AI claims that the level is incredibly easy to build confident inside the player’s mind.

Level 9Level 9 is the hardest level, and he suggests the player slow down and be careful.

Level 10Level 10 is a combination of the previous level and it has a boss tracing the player, and he tells the player to run and encourages the player.

GiftFinally, after the player passes level 10, he gives a small animation as a gift.

After the player passes level 10, the AI rewards the player with a credit cookie for their hard work and dedication.
